To conclude our Disciple Women’s study for 2010 – 2011, “And God Saw That It Was Good: Is It Still?” we’ll be having a second retreat day on Saturday, April 30th, at Turtle Rock Farm, outside Billings, Oklahoma. Members of our group who attended the first session were unanimous in our hope that our other Bethany sisters would be able to share in this educational and spiritual experience. Turtle Rock Farm, which was the home of former governor and U.S. Senator Henry Bellmon, is a working farm and retreat center, with an emphasis on sustainability and spirituality. Pat Hoerth and Ann McFerron, Bellmon’s daughters, are the center’s directors. This day of retreat will be a wonderful opportunity for us to experience some of the creative ways that Turtle Rock Farm is helping to preserve creation, and our time together should help us to think about ways that we can address environmental issues in our own lives. It will also provide a time for Bethany’s women to enjoy being with one another in God’s creation.
All women of the church are invited to attend this retreat, whether or not they are active in the Disciples Women group. There will be opportunities to be outside, and there are also comfortable and accessible areas for those who prefer to be inside the house.
We’ll meet at Bethany at 8:00 am, travel in cars, and should arrive at the farm around 10. During the day, we’ll have an overview of the work of the farm, eat lunch, and Pat Hoerth, one of the center’s founders, will lead us in our study session. We’ll leave the farm around 2:00, and will be back in Tulsa around 4:00 pm. There is no cost for this retreat, and all of Bethany’s women are invited to attend.
