Welcome to Bethany Christian Church. We're glad you stopped by. Please check us out and if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know. We'd love to meet you in person or communicate by email or phone. We enjoy making new friends and love to welcome new people into our community of faith. As a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Bethany Christian Church is a faith community that seeks to live its motto: “Not to be Served, but to Serve.” We believe that Bethany is called to welcome and minister to both one another and to our community. Thus, we deeply value not only shared worship, Christian education, fellowship activities, and opportunities for spiritual growth, but also service through our congregation, the larger church, and the many service agencies and organizations in the Tulsa area. Bethany’s members cherish the principle of inclusiveness toward the whole family of God. For this reason and along with our belief in the value of early childhood education, we have provided, since our earliest years, the Bethany Community School, open to the children of any faith and one of the most highly regarded preschools in Tulsa. In addition, we decided several years ago to become a “Shalom Congregation.” Our commitment to bringing God’s peace and justice wherever possible affects everything we do. After a careful discernment process, we also have chosen to be an “Open and Affirming Congregation.” All members—regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability—are encouraged to participate fully in the life of our congregation. While there are some things that we hold in common with all other Disciples, each congregation is unique. See our Frequently Asked Questions for information about Bethany's basic beliefs. Bethany's members cherish inclusion of the whole family of God as an important part of their faith. Bethany's members range from the very young to the very mature. That's hard to find in our segmented society. But it is important for young and old alike to know each other and to feel comfortable and learn from one another. There are currently several families who are second and third generation members of Bethany. Grandparents, parent and children can be found worshipping side-by-side on Sunday mornings.
